FAQ
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
Fees are $125 per 50-minute session. I work on an out-of-pocket basis, and I accept credit and debit cards. I do have a limited amount of reduced-rate slots available; sign up and schedule an appointment with me via Open Path if you are in need of a reduced rate.
WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THERAPY?
I do not accept insurance; however, upon request, I can provide you with a receipt, statement, or superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. You may contact your insurance company to inquire about your “out-of-network” therapy benefits and learn about how to submit an out-of-network reimbursement.
WHO DO YOU SERVE?
I serve Oregon and Washington residents that are 18 years old and older.
WHAT IS THE FIRST SESSION LIKE?
The first session is spent reviewing my approach, fees and policies, consent forms, confidentiality, intake paperwork (including your general history), the reasons you sought counseling, your goals, and any questions or concerns you have.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THERAPY?
Counseling sessions generally will consist of exploring and reflecting on your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors; learning how to regulate and respond to feelings; identifying patterns; connecting the dots between your past and current experiences; clarifying values to be able to make choices with integrity; and practicing new and different ways of relating to oneself and others.
Sessions are spent discussing whatever it is that you feel it is important to discuss that day. Typically, we would explore what problems you are noticing in your life, any emotions you are feeling/thoughts you are having/physical responses you are experiencing, what the potential root of those problems might be, and how they all may be interconnected.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?
How long you will want to be in therapy is dependent on many factors including how frequently we have sessions together, the work you put in both within and outside of sessions, the severity of what you are currently experiencing, and a variety of other things. The nature of therapy is that symptoms may worsen before improving, fail to improve at all, or just continue to worsen. Ultimately, there is no guarantee of any particular result, outcome, or timeline for anyone. That said, my commitment is that I will walk alongside you as we aim to figure out what works for you, together.
DO YOU PROVIDE IN-PERSON SESSIONS?
At this point, I only provide telehealth services (also known as teletherapy, online therapy, and distance counseling).
